Dr. Katherine T. Nichols (Dr. Katie)
Dr. Katherine T. Nichols (Dr. Katie) was born and raised in Terre Haute, Indiana. She graduated from Butler University in 2006 with an undergraduate degree in Biology. She went on to attend Indiana University School of Dentistry, graduating with honors in 2010 and completed her residency program in Pediatric Dentistry at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health. Dr. Katie’s pediatric dental training includes specialized care for infants, children, adolescents and patients with special health care needs.
As a mom, Dr. Katie understands the complexities of children’s oral health and is passionate about providing a positive experience for her patients and their families. She knows first-hand the stress that a child’s dental appointment can bring and prides herself on creating a tailored experience unique to your child’s individual needs. She enjoys educating patients on preventative care and the importance of oral hygiene through each stage of life.
Dr. Katie is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), the American Dental Association, and the Indiana Society of Pediatric Dentistry. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and maintains hospital privileges at St. Vincent’s Carmel Hospital and IU North Hospital. Dr. Katie is certified in CPR and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to provide her patients with the safest and most up to date sedation options possible.
Dr. Katie and her husband, Scott, enjoy spending as much time as possible with their children, Nolan, Knox and twins Collin and Nora. They enjoy family bike rides, playing at the park and cheering on the Butler Bulldogs. Dr. Katie and her husband are members of Meridian Street United Methodist Church, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, and the Ovid Butler Society. She looks forward to meeting your family and providing them with exceptional pediatric dental care.
Dr. Lauren E. Long
Dr. Lauren E. Long (Dr. Lauren) grew up in Jasper, Indiana. She attended Butler University and graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. Following her time as a Butler Bulldog, she studied at Indiana University School of Dentistry where she completed her doctorate degree in 2016. After working as a general dentist for 2 years, Dr. Lauren grew to love pediatric dentistry, and pursued her residency training at Riley Hospital for Children. She served as chief resident during her final year and received the Delta Dental Award for Innovation in Oral Care Research.
Dr. Lauren is a proud member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), Indianapolis District Dental Society (IDDS), and Indiana Society of Pediatric Dentistry (ISPD). She and her husband, Jake, who is currently pursuing his residency training in Endodontics, previously served as co-chairs of the New Dentist Committee for the IDDS. She is CPR and PALS certified, and is always seeking new ways to improve her clinical skills.
Dr. Lauren has always loved working with children in any setting (and even babysat for Dr. Katie’s kiddos during her time at Butler!), but particularly enjoys creating a fun and educational experience for kids at the dentist. She prides herself in getting to know each of her patients, listening to their goals, and working together to achieve them. She and Jake welcomed their first child, James, into the world in August 2019, and becoming a mom has only deepened her desire to serve her patients well. She is looking forward to being a part of the Carmel Pediatric Dentistry family!
In her free time, Dr. Lauren enjoys spending time with her family, exploring new restaurants, volunteering with Young Life and other community organizations, and biking on the Monon Trail. She is eager to provide compassionate care to each patient she encounters!
